Durex® Comes Out In Support Of The LGBT Community
Durex to sponsor NYC Pride Ride during Pride Month
NEW YORK, June 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Durex, the number one condom brand in the world and sexual well-being leader, announced today that it will sponsor the NYC Pride Ride on June 22. NYC Pride Ride is a nationally recognized cycling event organized by OutCycling, a leading LGBT cycling club in New York City, to raise money for the promotion of a healthy and active lifestyle for the LGBT community.
Durex's mission is for everyone to have the most gratifying and rewarding sex possible, no matter their sexual preference. NYC Pride Ride, now in its second year, is a partner of Heritage of Pride as a sporting event of Pride Month. The event brings together cycling enthusiasts from the Tri-State area for an organized ride while also encouraging cycling as a way of healthy living among the LGBT community.
The ride is suitable for all levels of riders, with routes ranging from 15 to 100 miles. This year's theme is "Cycle to Celebrate," and a portion of the proceeds will go to the development of a LGBT youth cycling program, which will serve as a way to educate and inform young riders about a healthy lifestyle through cycling.
"We are proud to partner with OutCycling for the NYC Pride Ride and show our support for the LGBT community," said Aurore Trepo, marketing director, Durex USA. "Durex believes that everyone has the right to a healthy and satisfying sex life – which is why we could not be more pleased to be a part of an event that shares these values and is aligned with our mission to create products that allow everyone to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle."
"NYC Pride Ride is a very exciting moment for the LGBT cyclists in New York City," said Graham Weinstein, co-founder, OutCycling. "Cycling has played a significant role as a healthy alternative for the LGBT community in the city. We felt it was time to elevate the awareness of our mission, creating this fun and meaningful event. We're thrilled that Durex shares our view and support for our community."
The entire month of June is dedicated to the Heritage of Pride, which hosts New York City's Pride events in commemoration of the Stonewall riots of 1969 – the beginning of the modern Gay Rights movement. The Pride Parade takes place this year on June 29, 2014, and OutCycling will be marching in the parade.
RB, Durex's parent company, is sponsoring all employees who wish to participate in the ride by covering their registration and jersey fees to show their support for the community.
