DuPont Fabros Technology, Inc. Achieves LEED Gold Certification For ACC7 Facility
WASHINGTON, April 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- DuPont Fabros Technology, Inc. (NYSE: DFT), a leading owner, developer, operator and manager of enterprise-class, carrier-neutral, large multi-tenant wholesale data centers, today announced that its ACC7 facility has been awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
LEED is the nation's preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. This is the fifth LEED certified data center in DFT's portfolio and the fourth to receive Gold certification. ACC7 achieved the LEED Gold certification in the Building Design and Construction category.
Located on DFT's Ashburn, VA, campus, ACC7 is the first facility to fully utilize DFT's newest data center design and provides a high degree of flexibility. ACC7 offers an industry-leading Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.15, as calculated on an annualized basis, by virtue of a highly efficient cooling plant and medium voltage electrical distribution featuring oil-filled power distribution units (PDUs). The award-winning data center provides the ultimate in energy efficiency and cost effectiveness without compromising reliability

Developed by the USGBC, LEED accreditations consider diverse aspects of facility design, construction, operation and maintenance—including site sustainability, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, and design innovation.
LEED Gold certification of ACC7 was based on a number of green design and construction features that positively impact the project itself and the surrounding community. Some of these features include:
- The use of low-emitting materials such as adhesives and sealants, paints and coatings, flooring systems, and composite wood and agrifiber products
- An energy and atmosphere design that is intended to optimize energy performance
- The use of recycled and regional materials, as well as the diverting of construction debris from disposal in landfills and incineration facilities.
ACC7, one of the largest multi-tenant data centers in North America, contains 446,000 gross square feet and can deliver 41.6 megawatts of critical power when fully developed. It is the sixth data center on DFT's 1.6 million square-foot Ashburn campus and the largest data center in the company's portfolio.
