BRISTOL, Pa., March 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The lack of standards bodies to certify solar module components is a growing issue within the solar industry, and one that will be addressed at this week's PV America event in San Jose, CA. DUNMORE Vice President John Jordon will join industry colleagues to discuss the need for codes and standards throughout the solar supply chain, and how different industry groups are working to harmonize global standards for consistent test processes.

As the market for solar modules increases and manufacturers look to offer longer warranties, there becomes a greater need for standards bodies to reconcile the differences in testing and quality assurance from one material to the next. With longer warranties comes the risk of losses from premature module failures caused by low-quality materials – backsheets that de-laminate, for example.
