Dunkin' Donuts Chooses Morgan Park Neighborhood for Chicago-Area Restaurant #600
CHICAGO, Dec. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Dunkin' Donuts, America's all-day, everyday stop for coffee and baked goods, announced that it will celebrate the grand opening of its 600th Chicago-area restaurant at 11525 S. Halsted St. in the Morgan Park neighborhood, Saturday, Dec. 5. The restaurant, which opened for business on Nov. 26, also includes Baskin-Robbins, the world's largest chain of ice cream specialty shops.
The first Dunkin' Donuts in Chicago, still operating today, opened at 3132 W. Devon Ave. in 1965.
To celebrate the grand opening, the restaurant will host a ribbon cutting ceremony with Chicago Planning Commissioner David Reifman, Illinois Retail Merchants Association Vice President Tanya Triche, Alderman Carrie Austin and Dunkin' Donuts officials at 11am. A Salvation Army band will perform, and Salvation Army representatives will be giving away Dunkin' Donuts travel mugs and free coffee coupons to all who make a cash or new toy donation. Sanjeev Khatau, president of Diya Group which owns and operates the new Dunkin' Donuts, also will donate $1,000 to the Salvation Army.
The new restaurant is Khatau's 19th investment in bringing Dunkin' Donuts to the far south suburban suburbs of Chicago and his first in the Morgan Park area. Khatau, who resides in Chicago, opened his first Dunkin' Donuts in 1998 at age 22. He currently owns 19 Dunkin' Donuts in the Chicago area and 15 in Detroit.
"We have had great success operating in the southern suburbs and feel confident that Dunkin' Donuts will contribute to the resurgence of Morgan Park," Khatau said.
The new Morgan Park location will be open 24 hours day, seven days a week, and will employ approximately 30 crew members. The restaurant will have comfortable seating and will provide a welcoming environment for guests to enjoy Dunkin' Donuts' food and beverages in a friendly and fun atmosphere.
