Dunk the Driver Fundraiser Hosted by Dickey's Barbecue Pit
America's Fastest-Growing Barbecue Chain Supports Racing Against Cancer Fundraiser
SEEKONK, Mass., July 19, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Dickey's Barbecue Pit will donate 5 percent of all sales raised during Dunk the Driver on July 24th to Racing Against Cancer.
"We are really excited to host this event," said Doug Comolli, the franchise owner and operator. "Dickey's Barbecue Pit sponsors a local race car, so it's fitting to host a car show for the family, where people can take pictures, kids can get their face painted and everyone can meet the Providence Bruins mascot."
The event will be on Sunday from 12 to 3 p.m. at Dickey's Barbecue Pit located at 20 Commerce Way in Seekonk.
"Hopefully this will not only raise a strong donation for Racing Against Cancer, but also generate community spirit with our local heroes," Comolli said.
Dickey's Barbecue Pit anticipates drawing a large crowd with the Providence Bruins mascot and local race drivers coming out to support the cause.
Texas-based Dickey's Barbecue Pit asks all owner/operators to give back to their communities in an impactful way.
"Doug is giving back to his surrounding community in a big way and we are proud to provide him with a platform through Dickey's Barbecue Pit," Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. CEO Roland Dickey said. "We want our owner/operators to take the value of community stewardship along with the barbecue to their neighbors and friends."
The first Dickey's Barbecue opened in 1941 in Dallas, TX and is still open for business.
Dickey's Barbecue is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.
Even today, Dickey's still slow smokes all of their signature meats overnight in every restaurant.
