Media Relations Expertise Aimed at Raising Awareness of Newly Created Non-Profit Designed to help America's Struggling Cities, Promote Entrepreneurism
NEW YORK, July 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Dukas Public Relations (DPR) today announced it has volunteered to provide ongoing public relations counsel to Venture for America (VFA) – a new charitable organization that encourages entrepreneurship amongst college grads to aid struggling cities across the U.S.
"In this tough economic climate, encouraging entrepreneurship and growth in economically-challenged cities is critical to getting Americans back to work and restoring its economic leadership," said Richard Dukas, president and CEO of DPR. "Venture for America is committed to making that happen and we are happy to lend our PR expertise to support those efforts."
VFA aims to bring young, talented college graduates to work in underserved communities for at least two years. Beginning in the fall of 2012, VFA Fellows will take jobs at start-up companies in some of the most economically challenged cities in the U.S., including Detroit, Providence, and New Orleans.
Already, Detroit Venture Partners, a venture capital firm funded by Dan Gilbert, has verbally committed to hiring at least 20 fellows from the 2012 graduating class. Mr. Gilbert is also the founder of Quicken Loans and the owner of the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers.
"We are grateful to have such a talented team of PR professionals helping VFA promote its message," said Andrew Yang, founder and president of VFA. Mr. Yang is a successful entrepreneur and former CEO of successful test prep company, which was sold to The Washington Post Co. in 2009.
