Due Date for Current Property Tax Bills Is Tuesday
Pappas Reminds Property Owners to Avoid Penalties
CHICAGO, Feb. 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --The due date for First Installment property tax bills for tax year 2009 is next Tuesday, March 2, 2010, Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas said today.
Pappas said taxpayers should pay on time because a late payment receives a penalty of 1.5 percent per month.
Pappas said on-time payment can be made:
- Electronically, at cookcountytreasurer.com, until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday.
- At any of more than 380 Chase Bank locations, until the close of business Tuesday.
- From accounts at some 220 participating community banks, until the close of business Tuesday.
Pappas said owners of homes, businesses and land can visit cookcountytreasurer.com and enter their Property Index Number to see the amount due on their current bills. Such information also is available at 312.443.5100 in English, Polish and Spanish.
