DTRA Completes Successful Test Using Assure6(SM)
Cyber policy manager gets thumbs up for protecting agency systems
ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Command Information is pleased to announce the successful test of the Assure6 product suite by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) to protect against Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) security threats. The test highlighted the Enhanced Deep Packet Inspection (EDPI) capabilities of Assure6 and its ability to detect IPv6 security threats currently undetectable with the existing security tools in use.
"Assure6 is a very powerful and effective cyber policy manager used to combat hackers at the network level. This test confirmed the positive feedback we have received from other agencies and private sector organizations testing and deploying Assure6," said Al Rogers, Major General, USAF (Ret.) and CEO of Command Information.
Beginning in 2003, the Depart of Defense identified its objective for an IPv6 transition of its networks and systems. In December 2009, the Federal Government required that IPv6 compliant products be specified in all new information technology acquisitions using Internet Protocol. To assist in secure IPv6 deployments, Command information developed and deployed Assure6 - the first cyber security appliance to monitor both native and tunneled IPv6 traffic in order to detect and block malicious IPv6 attacks. The Assure6 suite utilizes CloudShield hardware for the underlying platform.
"The number of IPv6 vulnerabilities that traditional hardware and software assurance vendors can detect is limited because there are significant differences between IPv4 and IPv6 protocols. We built and designed Assure6 from the ground up specifically to safeguard IPv6 traffic," said Lisa Donnan, Executive Vice President of Cyber Security Solutions at Command Information. "We are proud to have developed a product that will help ensure the safety of mission-critical networks today, and well into the future."
About Assure6(SM): The Assure6 suite is a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product that allows enterprise wide policy management of IPv6. It is a fully web-architected solution that aligns with Federal Government programs and initiatives such as the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative (CNCI) and the Department of Homeland Security's Einstein Program. Assure6 enhances the ability to secure information regardless of traffic type and detects unknown IPv6 security threats in existing networks. This ensures the protection of networks while also providing a safe and reliable transition to IPv6. Assure6 was developed using RAVE, CloudShield's network processing language, and the first open programming language designed for secure, scalable high-performance parallel network processing. CloudShield, an SAIC company, is the only DPI vendor that enables customers to write applications on its hardware solutions platform.
