DETROIT, June 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Customers who participated in energy-efficiency programs saved $585 million last year and can expect the steps they took to result in lifetime savings of more than $4.5 billion.
DTE Energy's (NYSE: DTE) energy-efficiency programs, launched in 2009, help customers save energy, which translates into lower energy bills. The 2014 residential programs included the new DTE Insight app to help customers track and manage real-time energy use, in-home energy audits and low-income weatherization assistance. The company also offered rebates on heating and cooling systems, appliance recycling, programmable thermostats and ENERGY STAR® appliances, and discounts on energy-efficient lighting.
DTE Energy also offered a range of programs and rebates for business customers, including energy consultations and incentives to install energy-efficient equipment and fixtures.
"In 2014, more than 550,000 electric and 300,000 natural gas customers participated in programs to better manage their energy use and save money," said Irene Dimitry, DTE Energy's vice president of Business Planning & Development. "We're delighted that so many of our customers are engaged in programs and services designed to make energy more affordable."

The program also has helped to create more than 300 Michigan-based jobs, including field operations staff, appliance pick-up drivers, call center representatives and program managers.
