DETROIT, April 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- DTE Energy (NYSE: DTE) today announced it is creating 120 new jobs for Detroiters to help staff its expanding customer call center in the company's downtown Detroit headquarters building. DTE will partner with Strategic Staffing Solutions (S3), which will be responsible for recruiting, hiring and managing the new employees. The collaboration will give Detroiters an employment opportunity, while developing new skills through on-the-job training.
"As a Detroit-based company for more than 100 years, we're pleased to be able to offer new, meaningful opportunities to Detroiters," said Jerry Norcia, president and chief operating officer, DTE Energy. "As a major employer in the Detroit community, we want to continue to be part of the revitalization of the city. Creating jobs through collaboration only furthers this effort."
The new employees will be trained on a state-of-the-art call center system housed in the historic Penobscot Building at S3's Detroit Development Center. These employees will answer and respond to DTE customer inquiries including service, billing and payment transactions, as well as emergency and outage situations. Interested applicants are required to have a high school diploma and two years of experience with direct customer contact is preferred.
DTE Energy and S3's 24-year strategic relationship is an example of what two companies can accomplish when goals are aligned. Over more than two decades, the organizations have worked together through the Downtown Detroit Partnership, the Live Downtown incentive, and countless charitable endeavors.
"DTE Energy and S3 are committed to growing Detroit, and that means keeping call center jobs such as these in the City, and not locate them out-of-state or overseas," said Cynthia Pasky, CEO and founder of Strategic Staffing Solutions.
