DTE Energy assists Detroit's Public Lighting Department with outage
DETROIT, Dec. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A power outage caused by a cable failure has affected the city of Detroit's Public Lighting Department customers this morning.
DTE Energy (NYSE: DTE) has sent technical experts to help PLD restore power to all of its customers. Restoration of some customers started at noon today, about 90 minutes after the outage began. Most customers are expected to be restored by tonight.
DTE also is working with the city to identify critical facilities that may need standby generation, such as hospitals.
