DRS Technologies Wins Additional Military/Veteran Friendly Employment Honors
ARLINGTON, Va., Dec. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- DRS Technologies, a Finmeccanica Company, announced today that it has earned a 2014 Military Friendly Employer title by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs and Military Spouse, and is recognized as one of 185 companies favored among military veterans, according to survey results.
Companies competed for the elite Military Friendly Employer title in a data-driven survey of more than 5,000 companies with resulting survey data independently tested by Ernst & Young LLP based on weightings and methodology established by Victory Media. Criteria for the survey included a benchmark score across key programs and policies such as the strength of company military recruiting efforts, the percentage of new hires with prior military service, retention programs, and company policies on National Guard and Reserve service.
DRS seeks to hire military talent and has long recognized hiring from the military community offers the company strategic competitive advantage. "It is particularly important that we show our support to veterans by recognizing their skills and offering them challenging and rewarding careers after the military," according to Toby Mannheimer, senior vice president of human resources at DRS Technologies." "I am proud that our company has been recognized by multiple organizations as a top business for veterans to work," Mannheimer said.
This is the second year DRS has been chosen for this recognition. The company was also recently selected for the "Best for Vets: Employers" list by the Military Times EDGE publication. The company joined 40 other companies that went above and beyond the call of duty for their military and veteran employees with policies that help veterans with everything from recruiting to reserve duty.
Now in its eleventh year, Military Friendly Employers media is the premier resource for transitioning service members and spouses seeking civilian employment. DRS Technologies will be showcased, along with other 2014 Military Friendly Employers in the December edition of G.I. Jobs magazine and online at MilitaryFriendly.com.
"The 2014 Military Friendly Employers represent the preeminent tier of companies with strong military recruitment programs and meaningful job opportunities for transitioning service members and spouses seeking civilian employment," said Sean Collins, Vice President for Victory Media and a nine-year Navy veteran. "Our Military Friendly Employers constitute the group of companies actually moving the needle and hiring from the military community. The 2014 Military Friendly Employers reported hiring over 117,000 service members and spouses over the last 12 months, representing an average of 14 percent of total new hires."
