ARLINGTON, Va., Feb. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- DRS Technologies Inc., a Finmeccanica Company, debuted its new Tamarisk® Precision Series line of radiometric camera cores at the 2015 SPIE Photonics West exhibition. Designed for applications that require both accurate temperature measurement and superior image quality, Tamarisk Precision Series is equipped with DRS's patented infrared sensor technology, expert calibration and new developer tools for greater flexibility, customization and integration for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
The Tamarisk 320 Precision Series, with its 17-micron pitch, proprietary infrared sensor architecture and 320x240 resolution, offers a means to remotely locate and identify key temperature variances in a given scene. The product includes new features for user-defined color parameters and a real-time temperature readout for swift and accurate decisions. This functionality is a common requirement of electrical and mechanical test and measurement, building inspection, medical diagnostics, fire detection, dual-purpose surveillance and process monitoring, and a host of other applications.
"Our customers essentially wrote the requirements for our new Precision Series radiometric cores," said Gregory Christison, Senior Director of DRS Commercial Infrared Systems. "Through the success of our Tamarisk uncooled thermal cores, we've come to understand the value that our OEM customers place on flexibility in their design process. To deliver on this challenge, our radiometric cores maintain the compatibility and high quality standards that our customers have come to expect while introducing another degree of functionality."
Fully compatible with the current line of Tamarisk 320 thermal cores, Tamarisk 320 Precision Series offers an expanded radiometric feature set. The features include the ability to accurately measure scene temperatures from -20 degrees C to 550 degrees C, provide per pixel temperature at a rate of 60 fps, apply custom color palettes to a scene based on temperature thresholds, and configure regions of interest for thermal triggers. All features come standard with pre-calibrated lens options of 40 degrees, 24 degrees, or 9 degrees degree horizontal field of view.
The next generation of radiometric camera cores from DRS Technologies is on display at the 2015 SPIE Photonics West exhibition at the Moscone Center (booth #5110), San Francisco, Cal., February 10-12.
