SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- DriveScale, the leader in delivering Composable Infrastructure for data-intensive workloads and a 2018 Cool Vendor by Gartner for Cloud Infrastructure, today announced that Chief Scientist and Co-founder Tom Lyon will be presenting Composable Infrastructure with two key DriveScale partners, Western Digital and Dell EMC.
Lyon will be presenting "Composable Infrastructure with DriveScale and Western Digital" at SC18: International Conference for High Performance Computing in Dallas on November 13th at 5:00pm CT and 14th at 2:00pm CT and 5:00pm CT in the Western Digital booth (# 3901). His talks will cover why data-intensive applications have unique behaviors and require a new infrastructure approach, how to achieve cost-effective agility at scale and how the DriveScale and Western Digital solutions work together to deliver Composable Infrastructure.
Lyon will also be presenting "Composable Infrastructure with DriveScale and Dell EMC" on November 15th at 12:00pm CT in the Dell EMC booth (# 3218). In this talk, Lyon will discuss how DriveScale and Dell EMC products work together to provide an ideal Composable Infrastructure solution for enterprise and cloud data centers.
Lyon is a computing systems architect, a serial entrepreneur and a kernel hacker. You can find him behind the microphone at the "TechNow with Tom Lyon" podcast, interviewing industry luminaries. Prior to founding DriveScale, he was founder and Chief Scientist of Nuova Systems, a start-up that led a new architectural approach to systems and networking and was acquired by Cisco to become the UCS Product Line. He was also founder and CTO of two other technology companies. Netillion, Inc. was an early promoter of memory-over-network technology. At Ipsilon Networks, Lyon invented IP Switching. Ipsilon was acquired by Nokia and provided the IP routing technology for many mobile network backbones.
As employee #8 at Sun Microsystems, Lyon was there from the beginning, where he contributed to the UNIX kernel, created the SunLink product family, and was one of the NFS and SPARC architects. He started his Silicon Valley career at Amdahl Corp., where he was a software architect responsible for creating Amdahl's UNIX for mainframes technology. Lyon holds numerous U.S. patents in system interconnects, memory systems, and storage.
