SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- DriveScale, the leader in delivering Software Composable Infrastructure (SCI) for modern workloads and a 2018 Cool Vendor by Gartner for Cloud Infrastructure, today announced the appointment of Laura Lilyquist as Vice President of Marketing. With more than 20 years experience in developing and executing all facets of marketing at both large, established companies and disruptive startups, Lilyquist joins the DriveScale team with deep expertise in product, technology and customer acquisition marketing.
"We're proud to have Laura on the team. She's a stand-out marketing leader who is passionate about breaking ground for leading-edge technologies," said Gene Banman, CEO at DriveScale. "Her track record of bringing emerging tech startups and products to market from an early adoption stage will help us build market awareness for DriveScale's industry-leading Software Composable Infrastructure solution and greatly expand customer adoption."
Lilyquist began her career in Silicon Valley at Sun Microsystems, where she was first the product line leader for networking products, and then established the European division of the networking business. Later, she positioned the company as an innovator in the rapidly evolving mobile landscape with a focus on corporate development and solutions marketing. In this role, she founded and led a global solutions business team to develop and sell integrated mobile solutions to mobile carriers and large enterprises. After Sun, Lilyquist joined Microsoft as global director of customer marketing where she built global field marketing programs to drive brand preference and market awareness for the company's industry-first IPTV solution for large telecom carriers. As director of strategic planning at Symantec, Lilyquist helped launch the company into the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) market by building and driving business plans across product marketing, product management and IT teams.
After Symantec, Lilyquist became an early employee at startup LiveHive where she built the first marketing team and launched the company. As Vice President of Marketing, she led the design of LiveHive's brand development, go-to-market plan, demand generation and digital media strategies. In her most recent role before joining DriveScale, she built and led global portfolio marketing for the software-defined data center and hybrid cloud solutions as senior marketing director at VMware.
"DriveScale brings together everything I have worked on in my career to date. The company is at the heart of a large shift in computing designed for big data and modern hyperscale applications. We're building a new approach that will redefine the industry, and that's exactly what inspires me about working in Silicon Valley," said Lilyquist. "I feel strongly about driving new technologies forward for the benefit of customers. I enjoy working with a team that shares this same drive and passion for innovation."
