DripDrop Scores Near Unanimous Approval From Pharmacists Nationwide
New Research Conducted by MD Analytics Shows 94% of Pharmacists Approve of DripDrop to Treat and Prevent Dehydration
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, DripDrop, the first medical-grade, great tasting Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS), released the results of a new study conducted by MD Analytics, which found 94 percent of pharmacists across the nation approve of DripDrop as a treatment for dehydration. The study found that pharmacists prefer ORS that contain electrolytes and low sugar, with nearly three in every five pharmacists indicating electrolyte concentration of DripDrop as the key factor in DripDrop's selection.
"Consumers put their trust in pharmacists to help guide them towards the best treatments and remedies for their medical conditions, so it was crucial for us to understand their point of view on DripDrop and, hopefully, gain their approval," said Doug Wolf, CEO, DripDrop. "The study showed that DripDrop was overwhelmingly approved by pharmacists as a treatment for conditions often caused by, indicative of, or resulting in dehydration, such as fatigue, excessive sweating and gastroenteritis. What's more, in DripDrop pharmacists know they are recommending a solution to both adults and children that works and actually tastes good – an extremely rare combination when it comes to ORS."
Dehydration is a hidden cause of common ailments across every age and physical condition; it can impair our productivity by up to 20%, reduce athletic performance, and make a bad cold a lot worse. Dehydration from gastroenteritis results in 1.5 million outpatient visits and 200,000 hospitalizations every year; while dehydration in children accounts for 3 million outpatient visits and 925,000 hospital days each year. Oral Rehydration Solutions (ORS) are endorsed by the American Medical Association, the Centers for Disease Control, and the World Health Organization, and have been shown to be as effective as intravenous (IV) therapy in treating 80 percent of dehydration cases.
Built on decades of proven science and created by a Mayo Clinic trained physician, DripDrop is the first Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) to combine the medical standards of rehydration therapy with excellent taste. Available in lemon or berry flavors, DripDrop's patented formula contains a precise ratio of sodium, sugars, and potassium to optimize absorption and speed recovery. It has 25 percent more electrolytes than pediatric solutions, half the sugar of most sports drinks, and does not contain any artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.
The research was conducted by MD Analytics between October 14 and November 7, 2014, and included a survey of 300 pharmacists in the United States.
