CHICAGO, June 22, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that Drexel University, one of the 15 largest private universities in the United States, has opted to become an early adopter of the Ex Libris Esploro™ research services platform. The Esploro solution will broaden the impact of Drexel's research output and maximize the efficiency of managing research data and publications for global discovery and access through a campus-wide partnership led by the Libraries.
As a participant in the Esploro early adopter program, Drexel University will be closely involved in providing product feedback and shaping Esploro to meet the needs of research universities. The first Esploro release will be available to early adopters in 2019.
One of the key factors in Drexel University's selection of Esploro is the promise of having one place for all research assets, including publications, data sets, and creative works, with integrated search and display. The platform will deliver this improved visibility through the introduction of automatic identification of research assets, wherever they are held, and capturing of related metadata; a metadata enrichment tool; and customized portals that will showcase all institutional research output. Drexel will implement the Esploro solution alongside the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform.
Drexel's Dean of Libraries Danuta A. Nitecki said, "At Drexel, we are excited that Ex Libris sought our partnership to leverage a library platform to provide a holistic solution for researchers to contribute their output for global discovery. Esploro goes beyond our strategic vision to shape future research through providing convenient access to Drexel-generated research. We treat these research outputs as institutional assets and as the Libraries' newest special collections, management of which will support faculty productivity and institutional reputation. We look forward to joining the early adopters in influencing the Ex Libris investment not only in building Esploro but also in further positioning libraries to advance their institutions' contributions to scholarship."
"Ex Libris is proud to have Drexel as the company's first Esploro customer," said Shlomi Kringel, corporate VP of Learning & Research Solutions at Ex Libris. "With the Esploro solution, Drexel will benefit from unified research asset management, greater exposure of the University's research output, and enhanced collaboration among stakeholders. We are looking forward to partnering closely with the Drexel University team in the Esploro early adopters program."
