SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Numerify, a leading provider of AI-powered IT Business Analytics, today announced the findings from the 2018 Dresner Advisory Services IT Analytics Market Study. The market study summarizes the results from a survey of a large group of IT professionals conducted annually by Dresner Advisory Services as part of their Wisdom of Crowds Series.
The survey covered four main areas of IT Business Analytics – IT Operations Management, IT Resource Management, IT Resource Planning, and IT Systems Development. 74% of the respondents scored IT Analytics as Critical or Very Important, with the proportion even higher among large enterprises. Operations Analytics is typically where survey respondents have started their IT analytics journey, with IT Service Analytics serving as the typical initial area of interest followed by IT Incident Analytics. More than any other enterprise business function, IT considers Compliance and Risk Management as a core objective of analytics.
Almost half of the respondents still rely on spreadsheets or some other informal analytic approach. Respondents that rated IT Analytics as a critical capability for their business were most likely to use a third-party purpose-built IT analytics solution. The study also provides an assessment of the importance of key metrics for each area of IT Business Analytics, providing a clear starting point for enterprises embarking on an IT analytics initiative.
"IT departments are beginning to assume the responsibility of understanding performance and executing upon that like never before. Similar to other business functions, IT understands that a comprehensive analytical view across planning, application development, and IT operations is key to success," said Howard Dresner, founder and Chief Research Officer at Dresner Advisory Services. "Our IT Analytics Market Study indicates that adopting a comprehensive approach to IT analytics can allow organizations to out-innovate their competitors."
"We see a significant opportunity for enterprises to boost the performance of their IT function through a focused use of IT business analytics," said Gaurav Rewari, co-founder and CEO at Numerify. "The IT Analytics Market Study clearly shows that businesses that use a formal and well-designed IT business analytics strategy gain significant value. As market and thought leaders in IT business analytics, we are committed to providing our customers with a data-driven approach to improving the performance of the IT organization."
Wisdom of Crowds® research is based on data collected on usage and deployment trends, products, and vendors.
