drchrono Announces Real-Time Health Insurance Coverage Checks and Enables Payment Transactions for Patients on iPad, iPod touch, iPhone and EHR Platform
Free EHR App Now Supports Square for Patient Payments Using iPhone; Allows for Doctors and Patients to Check Health Insurance Eligibility Immediately though iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- drchrono, the company modernizing healthcare through a free Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform on the iPad, announced today that it is incorporating iPhone patient payment processing and adding real-time patient health insurance eligibility checks to its iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and EHR platform. These additions will allow patients the ease of providing payments to doctors for their services and will enable both doctors and patients to check information regarding a patient's insurance in real time.
drchrono adds iPhone and iPod touch patient payments at a time when patients and doctors are starting to look for simple ways to pay for appointments. By plugging a Square card reader into an iPhone or iPod touch audio jack, doctors and their staff can swipe credit cards and have the payment go directly into the physician's bank account. Now, medical practices can take payments through an iPhone or iPod touch, which would reflect into the practice management software.
Alongside the addition of taking mobile patient payments, drchrono is also introducing a real-time patient insurance eligibility check capability on its EHR and patient check-in apps. These are the first apps to provide such an option within the mobile space and will allow for doctors, medical staff and patients to check a patient's insurance coverage information instantly and allow the patient to pay in real time. This replaces the staff member calling insurance companies on the phone to find out relevant patient coverage information. Rather than making calls, the real-time iOS and web platform patient eligibility option will instantly provide a comprehensive report with the information needed prior to the appointment.
"Our focus is on creating a better medical experience for doctors and medical staff," said Michael Nusimow, co-founder and CEO of drchrono. "By adding real-time health insurance eligibility information into the platform as well as mobile payment processing, we've provided some simplicity and a little bit of ease to a profession that is undoubtedly stressful on a daily basis. Ultimately, our goal is to have the technology fade away into the background while physicians focus on what matters: the patient."
iPhone patient payments and the iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and web platform real-time patient insurance eligibility options are available now for medical practices.
