Draeger Innovian Anesthesia Has Gone Live at Naval Medical Center San Diego
TELFORD, Pa., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Draeger Medical, Inc., a leader in anesthesia delivery and anesthesia information management solutions, announced the implementation of its Innovian Anesthesia Information Management Solution (AIMS) at the Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD). The largest to date, it is among 65 Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) to deploy the AIMS solution. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at NMCSD on October 18, 2010 in recognition of this technologically advanced approach to patient care. (*Event is not open to the public/press).
In 2009, the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs announced the Draeger Innovian Anesthesia platform as the Department of Defense's (DoD) solution of choice. This will be the first of its kind deployment of an Anesthesia Information Management Solution (AIMS) to all MTFs around the world where anesthesia is administered. The Innovian solution offers a seamless flow of critical information for the safe delivery of anesthesia from pre-op through surgical and post-op care, data collection and billing.
According to the Health Affairs memo sent to all branches within the DoD, the decision to implement one standardized platform is based on the premise it "will improve skill retention, eliminate multiple device-specific training, and enable centralized data collection and reporting to assist in future integration of anesthesia data into the Electronic Health Record(s)."
"Draeger is honored to celebrate with the Naval Medical Center San Diego and all branches of the DoD in this worldwide deployment of Innovian Anesthesia," said Arno Wolters, President and CEO, Draeger Medical, Inc. "This marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration between Draeger and the DoD as we continue to work together with their clinicians and leadership teams to enhance their delivery of patient care and improve the efficiency of operations and performance -- all of which we believe is possible with the Innovian Anesthesia solution."
Innovian Anesthesia deployments will be rolled out to the remaining MTFs throughout 2010 and 2011 until completed.
Innovian Anesthesia is manufactured by Draeger Medical GmbH.
