Draeger Infinity M300 Patient-Worn Monitor Achieves Wi-Fi Certification
Wireless patient monitor successfully passes Wi-Fi certification testing
TELFORD, Pa., Dec. 2, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Draeger today announced that the latest version of its Infinity M300 patient-worn (telemetry) monitoring system has achieved Wi-Fi certification by the Wi-Fi Alliance. Capabilities that successfully passed interoperability testing include IEEE standards 802.11b and 802.11g. The monitoring system has been successfully implemented at major hospitals worldwide, resulting in both clinical and cost benefits.
Infinity M300 shares the same Wi-Fi access points as wireless Infinity patient monitors. As a member of the global Wi-Fi Alliance, Draeger supports the adoption of a single worldwide standard for high-speed wireless networking. Furthermore the Infinity M300 supports WPA2™ standard encryption – providing advanced data security and faster communication than previous wireless standards.
"At Draeger, we are deeply committed to making wireless care a reality," said Neal Long, President & CEO, Draeger Medical Systems, Inc. "Our newest monitors and all Draeger monitoring devices in the future will have built-in wireless technology. With this unprecedented Wi-Fi certification of the Infinity M300, we are opening new possibilities of care to our healthcare customers worldwide."
The Infinity M300 patient-worn monitor is designed to produce clinical and economic benefits. The compact, wireless design enables hospitals to mobilize patients as early as possible to speed healing.
"Wi-Fi certification provides peace of mind by offering interoperability, standard-based security and easy installation," said Lars Roth, product manager for Infinity M300 at Draeger's Monitoring, Systems & IT group in Andover, Massachusetts. "This not only supports patient safety, but also can reduce costs because the device can run on the hospital's existing wireless network rather than requiring a separate, proprietary network. It also has an environmentally conscious rechargeable battery."
"We congratulate Draeger on achieving Wi-Fi certification," said Edgar Figueroa, chief executive officer of the Wi-Fi Alliance. "Becoming Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ shows Draeger's dedication to furthering the use of Wi-Fi technology and commitment to interoperability among Wi-Fi enabled devices."
Transforms telemetry into patient-worn monitoring
Supporting adult and pediatric patients, Infinity M300 provides the performance of a full-size patient monitor. Unlike traditional telemetry devices that simply transmit data to a remote viewing station, Infinity M300 has built-in vital signs processing capabilities. A color display shows ECG for all monitored leads, heart rate, SpO2, and electrode status – enabling the clinical staff to access monitored data at the patient site and react promptly. The display also shows patient demographics to help confirm the patient's identification. Infinity M300 can sound alarms in the patient vicinity and enables staff to pause and control alarms – without having to go to the central station or use additional equipment that can compromise patient mobility.
The Infinity® M300 monitor is manufactured by Draeger Medical Systems, Inc.
