BURLINGAME, Calif., Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- ARES Corporation, a leading provider of risk and project management software and services to over 650 customers in 20 different countries announced the promotion of Dr. William Vantine to President of ARES Corporation. Dr. Richard J. Stuart, who has served as Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer, and President since founding the company in 1992, will continue as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer.

Prior to this appointment, Vantine had previously served in a number of senior executive roles with ARES including, President of the Risk and Technology Solutions Division and most recently as President of the Software Solutions Division. Vantine holds graduate degrees from the George Washington University and a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech.

Replacing Vantine as President of the Software Solutions Division is Mr. Michael Jackson, who previously served as Vice President and Deputy Manager of the Software Solutions Division. Prior to joining ARES in 2009, Jackson served as chairman and CEO for Marketron International, a software company he founded in 1995. Under Jackson's leadership, Marketron became the dominant provider of business management solutions that were licensed by more than 80% of the top broadcast groups in North America. Jackson is a graduate of the University of Southern California.
Additionally, Capt. Robert Curbeam (USN, Retired) is promoted to President, Aerospace and Defense Division. Prior to joining ARES in 2007, Capt. Curbeam had a distinguished career as a NASA astronaut and held several key positions including Deputy Director for Safety & Mission Assurance. Prior to joining NASA, he served with distinction in the Navy. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Capt. Curbeam has flown three times on the Space Shuttle and has performed seven extravehicular activities (spacewalks).
The remainder of ARES' senior management team—Chief Financial Officer Doug Schmidt, Senior Vice President Stanley Lynch, and President of the Energy Services Division Dave Stinson—is unchanged.
