Dr. Sean Tunis Assumes Role of President of Health Technology Assessment international (HTAi)
BALTIMORE, June 21, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Sean Tunis, MD, MSc, the Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Center for Medical Technology Policy (CMTP), has been elected President of the Health Technology Assessment International (HTAi). Dr. Tunis' two-year term began this morning, at the HTAi 2017 Annual Meeting in Rome, Italy. As President, Dr. Tunis will work closely with public and private sector leaders within the global healthcare community to further HTAi's mission to promote health technology assessment as a scientific, multidisciplinary means to inform healthcare decision making.

Dr. Tunis has served as Vice President on the HTAi board for the past two years, and he currently serves on a number of advisory boards for a wide range of domestic and international public and private health care organizations on issues of comparative effectiveness, evidence based medicine, clinical research, reimbursement and health technology policy. Prior to founding CMTP, Dr. Tunis was the Director of the Office of Clinical Standards and Quality and Chief Medical Officer at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and prior to that was the Director of the Health Program of the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment.
