DR Power Equipment Opens its Doors to Public For 2013 Manufacturing Day

VERGENNES, Vt., Oct. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- DR Power Equipment, the maker of such iconic outdoor power equipment as the DR Trimmer Mower and the DR Field and Brush Mower, recently hosted students and community members at its manufacturing facility in Winooski, Vermont. Visitors enjoyed an inside look at the company's engineering, manufacturing, and shipping processes. They heard firsthand about how DR products are designed from the ground up by the engineering team, how each component and structure is tested for durability, how the manufacturing team builds each machine by hand, and how orders are processed and shipped directly to customers.

The visitors, many of whom were students from local high schools and technology education programs, were excited to learn more about manufacturing career opportunities and how the skills they learn in the classroom translate into a real-world work environment.

The tours and demonstrations were part of the 2013 Manufacturing Day, a nationwide event organized by four manufacturing organizations: Fabricators and Manufacturers Association, International; the National Association of Manufacturers; the Manufacturing Extension Partnership; and the Manufacturing Institute. Its aim is to raise awareness about the prevalence of manufacturing in the US and allay some common misconceptions about the sector.

Each year, manufacturers from around the country open their doors to visitors for tours, demonstrations, and seminars. This year, DR Power Equipment was one of over 800 participating manufacturers, and is excited to be a part of the event again in 2014.
