Dr. Phyllis Gaspar Appointed National Director Of Research And Development For The Goodman Group
CHASKA, Minn., Feb. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Goodman Group, a national leader in developing and managing senior living and health care communities, today announced the appointment of Dr. Phyllis Gaspar as National Director of Research and Development for The Goodman Group. Dr. Gaspar specializes in geriatrics and long term care and has been a renowned researcher in the field. Before joining The Goodman Group, she was a Professor at the University of Toledo.
Her appointment is effective immediately. The appointment was announced by Constance Schein, national director of health services, The Goodman Group. In her new role, she will be focused on integration of established evidence into the care provided to seniors and the development of knowledge for innovative approaches promoting wellness of the seniors.
"Dr. Gaspar brings more than 20 years of experience in geriatric and long-term care research. She has previously worked with us as an expert consultant on Pearls of Life®, an award-winning dementia program of The Goodman Group which provides personalized care plans in a home-like environment at all of our memory care communities across the country," said Schein. "She has been a research consultant, nurse scientist and professor in both college graduate and undergraduate programs and has the ideal background and experience for the job. She is passionate about our industry and applying evidence-based practices to improve individual, family and community health outcomes. She is a significant addition to the company."
Dr. Gaspar has a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Nursing with a focus in Gerontological Nursing from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Gerontological Nursing Interventions from the University of Iowa. She has a Master of Science degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and a Bachelor of Science degree from the same university. She is a registered nurse.
Dr. Gaspar is a member of the American Medical Directors Association, Midwest Nursing Research Society, and the Gerontological Society of America.
Among her many awards and honors, she received the AMDA Foundation Pfizer Quality Improvement Award twice in 2013 and 2014 (M. Gokula and P. Gaspar), most recently for the study "Rejuvenate Activities Program (RAP) & Rock (It's Never 2 Late [IN2L]): Comparing Three Activates Strategies for Effects on outcomes of Residents with Dementia.
