Dr Pepper Snapple Group Joins Beverage Industry to Support First Lady Michelle Obama's 'Let's Move' Campaign

PLANO, Texas, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dr Pepper Snapple Group (NYSE: DPS) has joined First Lady Michelle Obama and other leading beverage companies to improve product labeling by listing calories more prominently on containers, vending machines and fountain equipment.

In Washington, D.C. today, the First Lady announced her goal to eliminate childhood obesity in a generation.  In launching the "Let's Move" campaign, the First Lady aims to help parents deal with what many consider a national health crisis by enabling them to make informed choices as part of a balanced lifestyle.

The calorie initiative goes beyond what is required by the Food and Drug Administration's food labeling regulations, and the beverage companies will coordinate with the FDA to implement it.  DPS and the industry will begin to introduce the new labels this year with nationwide completion in 2012.
