Dr. Paul Ekman and Dr. Eve Ekman to Present the Atlas of Emotions at the University of California, San Francisco on Tuesday, May 31, 2016
SAN FRANCISCO, May 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The creators of the Atlas of Emotions, www.atlasofemotions.com, Dr. Paul Ekman and Dr. Eve Ekman, will present the Atlas for Grand Rounds on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, from 8:00 to 9:30 am PST at the Department of Psychiatry of the University of California, San Francisco.
The Atlas arose as a result of the friendship between Paul Ekman and the Dalai Lama. "The Atlas of Emotions was created to help people navigate among their emotional experiences and to reduce destructive and regrettable emotional episodes," said Dr. Paul Ekman. "The Atlas will increase our understanding of the subtleties and complexities of emotional life, exposing features of our emotions that may not be apparent, giving us a deeper understanding of ourselves."
"Our desire to help people navigate and understand their emotions lead us to create visual representations, maps, of how emotions feel, how they relate to each other and how they unfold over time," said Dr. Eve Ekman. "We have developed the designs for the Atlas of Emotions with our best hypothesis about how emotions work and how this will help people."
The event is for health care professionals. All persons from the media who wish to attend must obtain clearance from UCSF Public Affairs Department. https://www.ucsf.edu/university-relations
