Dr. Padmini Murthy, M.D., M.P.H. is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Professional
PLEASANT VALLEY, N.Y., June 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Padmini Murthy, M.D., M.P.H. is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Healthcare as a result of her role as Director of Global Health and Assistant Professor with New York Medical College, one of the nation's largest private health sciences universities, located in Westchester County, New York.
Throughout her career, Dr. Murthy has practiced medicine in various countries and has been working in various arenas of the health care industry. She has served as a consultant to the United Nations and has been invited to be a representative and participant at several high level panels organized by the United Nations and the World Health Organization. In addition, Dr. Murthy was a member of the planning committee and expert panel at the 63rd United Nations DPI NGO Conference and health in Melbourne Australia. In this capacity, she was also invited to moderate a high level panel at the meeting, where she represented United States.
In her current position as a faculty member at New York Medical College, Dr. Murthy has been honored by her students as an outstanding teacher and inspiration to pursue to their careers in global health. As a member of the faculty, she teaches medical students and public health graduates preventive medicine and public health.
As a result of her dedication to the Healthcare profession, Dr. Murthy has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Soujouner Truth Pin which is given to those women who excel in community service. Dr. Murthy was awarded the National Council of Women USA Distinguished Leadership award on the occasion of 100 years of International Women's Day in 2011, recognizing her efforts to promote women's health globally. Additionally, Dr. Murthy was named Public Service Scholar by the Robert F. Wagner School of Public service (one of the top ranked schools in the US) at New York University and also was awarded the Dean's Certificate in Academic Excellence at New York University.
Dr. Murthy is widely published and is the author and editor of Women's Global Health and Human Rights a book which is used worldwide. Her book, Women's Global Health and Human Rights has been read by US Surgeon General Dr. Regina Benjamin, H.E. Michelle Bechelet Executive Director of UN Women and Former President of Chile, H.E. Mary Robison, as well as the Former head of UN High Commission on Refugees and former President of Republic Ireland.
Dr. Murthy earned her M.D. from Nagarjuna University and also holds a D.G.O. from Gulbarga University. In addition, Dr. Murthy received an M.P.H Degree from New York University as well as an M.S. from New York University's Wagner School of Public Service.
