Dr. Michael Greenberg, Dallas ISD School Board Candidate for District 1, Accepts DISD Teachers' Endorsement; Vows to Include Teachers in Policy Discussions

DALLAS, March 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Dallas ISD teacher group Alliance-AFT endorsed Michael Greenberg in the District 1 race for School Board Trustee. "Our children and teachers are the heartbeat of Dallas ISD. The first step in moving our district forward is to listen to teachers, parents and taxpayers. I am honored that teachers believe that as the next Trustee for District 1, we can work together to improve the culture and increase student achievement," Greenberg said.
Greenberg, a businessman, Ph.D. and father of a DISD kindergartner, has pledged that he will be an approachable, accountable advocate for District 1 residents. "DISD should be transparent and I will lead by example. Voters can see my responses to organizations' questionnaires on my website, http://www.greenbergfordisd.com," said Greenberg.
"Students, employees, parents and community members of this district deserve trustees that will keep education quality at the forefront of their decisions and we believe that these candidates will carry that mission out," Alliance-AFT President Rena Honea said in a statement announcing the organization's endorsements.
Greenberg, a member of the DeGolyer Dad's Club, enjoys widespread support of teachers, parents and homeowners. "I know Michael well through the Sparkman Club where he is an executive officer. He is involved in this community and is a dedicated neighbor who really listens and acts decisively," said Jackie King, president of the neighborhood association.
Michael Greenberg, a native Dallasite and graduate of Hillcrest High School, graduated from SMU and went on to receive an M.P.A. from Texas State University – San Marcos and a M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Dallas. Michael is a member of the inaugural class of Leadership DISD and DISD Community Technology Focus Group. He was appointed by Mitchell Rasansky to serve on the City of Dallas Civil Service Board. Greenberg is a member of the DeGolyer Elementary Dad's Club, Sparkman Club Estates Treasurer and Stewardship Chair and Budget & Finance Committee Member for Transfiguration Episcopal Church. He is the Director of PMO with RealPage, Inc. and manages the implementation of financial, HR and operations technology systems and processes.
