In the past two years UVA has recruited exceptional PhD laboratory investigators and physician researchers as well as 28 support staff. We completed outfitting a $4M new inpatient transplant unit with state-of-the-art equipment, and in January 2012 we started performing unrelated allogeneic umbilical cord blood stem cell transplants, as well as mobilized peripheral blood stem cell transplants.
