Dr. Leonard's® Healthcare Corp. Salutes Veterans With a Merchandise Donation
The Edison-based company pledged tens of thousands of dollars of merchandise to support America's local heroes and families.
EDISON, N.J., Jan. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Every December, Dr. Leonard's®Healthcare Corp. comes together as a company — and a family — to give back to the community and give thanks to veterans with a generous donation to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #2179 in nearby Port Monmouth, New Jersey.
With its message of peace and goodwill to all, the holiday season is the perfect time to pay tribute to veterans and families in need. America is home to more than 22 million men and women who have bravely served our country. Of these veterans, many suffer from service-related disabilities or hardships. Making life easier for those with medical issues or physical limitations is at the core of Dr. Leonard's® values.
Gifts of Mobility, Independence and More for Military Families
Dr. Leonard's® Healthcare Corp., a respected mail order supplier of health-related items and household products, is especially sensitive to the needs of the physically challenged. With the concerns of military families in mind, Dr. Leonard's® selected pallet after pallet of mobility aids, personal transport devices, bedding, clothing and more. The VFW, which is America's most respected veteran's organization, ensures that these valuable goods reach the men, women and children who need them most. "For the 3rd year in a row, Dr. Leonard's® is so pleased to partner with our heroes and good friends at the VFW Post #2179 in Port Monmouth," said Karen Gourley, Purchasing Manager at Dr. Leonard's® and coordinator of this philanthropic program.
Promoting the Spirit of Giving and Better Living
It takes teamwork to bring this program to fruition. In the initial phases, Purchasing Director Frank Dragone and his team put their heads together to come up with an assortment of products that will have the biggest impact on veterans and families. Bobcat scooters, Rollators and other mobility aids are at the top of that list. "We look forward to this opportunity to offer greater independence and mobility to men and women who have put their life on the line for our country," said Dragone. Next, Warehouse Director Pete Reno and Warehouse Manager Larry Kraemer step in to coordinate the merchandise and prepare it for donation.
A Festive Breakfast Then Time to Load the Trucks!
Spearheaded by Karen Gourley and Larry Kraemer, Dr. Leonard's® kicked off the donation at a breakfast ceremony with brothers Patrick and Joe Lipka of the Port Monmouth VFW Post. Joe Albanese, President of Dr. Leonard's®, and Frank Dragone, welcomed the VFW representatives to their Edison, New Jersey facility. They were joined by other employees who had enthusiastically ordered, organized and collected the merchandise donation. "On behalf of all of us at Dr. Leonard's®, we offer heartfelt thanks to the men and women who sacrifice so much for this great country and are grateful to VFW #2179 for helping us make a difference in their lives," said Albanese.
