Dr. Leonard Kirschner Joins SCAN Health Plan Arizona Board of Directors
PHOENIX, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Leonard Kirschner has been appointed to the SCAN Health Plan Arizona board of directors, effective Jan. 1. He joins the other board members in providing oversight and governance to SCAN Health Plan Arizona.
A longtime healthcare leader in Arizona, Dr. Kirschner brings extensive managed care experience to this new role. He currently serves as president of AARP Arizona and is a member of the American Hospital Association Long Range Policy Committee. During his 35-year career, Dr. Kirschner held many prestigious healthcare positions, including serving as director of the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), and president of the Veterans Medical Leadership Council of the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center as well as many advisory roles.

Dr. Kirschner is a frequent speaker on Medicaid, Medicare, managed care, behavioral health and healthcare reform. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the Healthcare Lifetime Achievement Award from the Phoenix Business Journal and the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association's Salisbury Award, among others. Dr. Kirschner is a graduate of Williams College, Albany Medical College, and the Harvard University School of Public Health and is board certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine.
