SunCloud Health provides first-in-class individualized treatment designed to achieve long-term sustainable recovery for patients and their families. Levels of care include standard outpatient services, intensive outpatient (IOP), and partial hospitalization (PHP). Since every patient's recovery journey is unique, the recommended length of stay in any program depends on each individual's clinical circumstances. Evidence-based treatment modalities integrated at SunCloud Health include individual and group therapy, nutrition therapy, 12-step facilitation, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), peer support, medication-assisted therapy, and family intervention.
Standard outpatient services are currently being offered at SunCloud Health. The IOP track opens in July 2016 to provide stabilization for patients having difficulty managing their symptoms in traditional outpatient treatment. This program will operate 5 days per week with a minimum of 3 hours per day of programming.
The PHP, or day treatment, program at SunCloud Health opens in December 2016 and will operate 5-7 days per week at 6-10 hours per day. This program is available for those who require a higher level of care than IOP yet fall below the threshold of requiring the 24-hour support of inpatient care. This offers the intensity and structure of residential treatment during daytime hours while providing opportunities to practice recovery outside of the controlled treatment environment during evenings, whether at home or in peer-supported apartment communities.
"This is the realization of a dream for me," states Dr. Dennis. "I saw the great need for a center geared toward treating the many patients who don't fit nicely into one little diagnostic box. We handpicked like-minded clinicians who embody the principles of trauma-informed and truly integrated care and are passionate about measuring outcomes using standardized tools, ensuring that SunCloud Health offers patients the best possible long-term outcomes."
Dr. Dennis began her own recovery from both a life-threatening eating disorder and substance use disorder at an early age, giving her unique insight and empathy for her patient population. She maintains a holistic perspective in her practice of psychiatry, incorporating biological, psychological, social, and spiritual approaches to address mental health concerns. As Medical Director and CEO Emeritus of Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center, a 164-bed facility located in Lemont, Illinois, Dr. Dennis is a vocal thought leader in the eating disorder community.
The clinical team at SunCloud Health believes in treating both the symptoms of these mental health disorders and their underlying causes. Recognizing the prevalence of co-occurring conditions, Dr. Dennis and her team incorporate a truly integrated model of care. Patient education, engagement, adherence, secondary and tertiary prevention, and follow up are integrated into all individualized treatment plans.
