Dr. Kim Curry named Editor-in-Chief for Journal of American Association of Nurse Practitioners (JAANP)

AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 3, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (JAANP) has named Kim Curry, PhD, ARNP, FAANP, to the position of editor-in chief.  Dr. Curry will replace Charon Pierson, PhD, GNP, FAAN, FAANP, current editor-in-chief, who will become executive editor of JAANP during the transition period prior to her retirement in 2018. 

Dr. Curry brings more than three decades of experience to the journal as an author of book chapters, monographs, and refereed publications.  She has delivered numerous lectures, speeches and posters in state, local, national and international presentations.  The recipient of many honors and awards, she has been recognized for excellence in clinical practice, research and innovation in her role as faculty.   Currently Dr. Curry is Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Clinical Associate Professor, College of Nursing at the University of Florida at Gainesville.  In 2013 Dr. Curry was inducted as a Fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Although Dr. Pierson will retired from the editor-in-chief position of JAANP, she will continue her work with COPE – the Committee on Publication Ethics, to which she was elected in 2012 and will complete her second term as the secretary of the COPE Trustee Board in 2019.  "My work with this international body has greatly enhanced my understanding of and respect for scholarly scientific publishing and reinforced my commitment to the necessity of integrity in research and its publication as the base of clinical evidence on which nurse practitioners depend," said Dr. Pierson.
