Dr. John Berdahl named Top 40 under 40 worldwide by The Ophthalmologist
SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Dec. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. John Berdahl was recently named Top 40 under 40, worldwide, in the field of ophthalmology by Britain's trade journal The Ophthalmologist. This honor was bestowed upon him for his accomplishments as a physician, educator, and inventor.
Dr. Berdahl specializes in advanced cataract, corneal and glaucoma surgery, in addition to refractive surgery. He practices at Vance Thompson Vision in Sioux Falls, an internationally recognized refractive surgery practice specializing in advanced eye surgeries.
Dr. Berdahl graduated from Mayo Medical School and finished his ophthalmology residency at Duke University. He also completed an anterior segment fellowship at Minnesota Eye Consultants. He has won numerous national awards including the Claes Dohlman Award from Harvard University, given to the top cornea fellow in America, and the Resident Writers Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. In 2013, he was named the top young physician in South Dakota. His commitment to those in need is demonstrated by his leadership role in EyeCare America (which provides free eye care to the underserved) and by the numerous surgical mission trips he continues to participate in worldwide.

He has also developed a widely used mathematical algorithm to solve the complicated problem of astigmatism following cataract surgery.
Dr. Berdahl is on the leading edge of innovation in ophthalmology and has presented on innovations in glaucoma, cataract and refractive surgery on four continents. He is also the current president of the Vanguard Ophthalmology Society, which is dedicated to the excellence and advancement of ophthalmology.
