Senior Ogilvy & Mather Executive Brings Communication and Campaign Expertise to National Anti-Poverty Organization
NEW YORK, July 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Single Stop USA, a national non-profit organization focused on increasing economic and educational opportunities nationwide, announced today that Dr. Jennifer Scott has joined its board of directors. Dr. Scott serves as the Global Managing Director of Ogilvy Public Relations' (Ogilvy PR) Strategy+Planning Group and brings significant experience in communications strategy to the Single Stop board.
"We are delighted to have Jennifer join our board of directors," said Elisabeth Mason, CEO of Single Stop USA. "To effectively address economic vulnerability in America today, we need to create common ground between those in need and a range of resources, services and institutions. Jennifer's skills will help Single Stop be an even more powerful agent for achieving this."
Mason went on to say: "Jennifer's expertise in communicating to different constituencies is especially important as Single Stop embarks on an ambitious program for national expansion."
"Single Stop is the engine behind one of the most transformative anti-poverty initiatives in America today, and I am honored to have been appointed to the board," said Dr. Scott. "In 2011, Single Stop USA not only connected over 140,000 eligible families with more than $425 million in benefits and services, it also took action to help these families avoid slipping into a cycle of poverty. For this critically important work to flourish, we need to be able to communicate strongly, persuasively and optimistically about what can be achieved."
"Single Stop is high-impact and high-return," said Angela Dorn, COO and General Counsel of the organization. "Every dollar invested in Single Stop produces $20 in benefits and services to eligible families. Jennifer's ability to help us communicate our work will hopefully inspire many others to rally in support of this initiative."
With a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and a Doctorate from Oxford University in England, Dr. Scott currently leads a cross-disciplinary team of Ogilvy PR's most senior practitioners, working to elevate strategic excellence, creativity and campaign effectiveness.

About Single Stop USA (SSUSA)
Single Stop USA (SSUSA) is a non-profit organization focused on increasing economic and educational opportunities nationwide by bridging the gap separating low-income families from life-changing public benefits, tax credits and other essential services that remain untapped and inaccessible. Single Stop USA is the ambitious nationwide expansion of a remarkably successful program launched by the Robin Hood Foundation to connect the working poor in New York with government funds and services intended for them. Incorporated as a non-profit in March, 2007, Single Stop USA encompasses the existing New York program, as well as new efforts throughout the country. In its first five years, working in partnership with community based organizations and community colleges Single Stop USA will deliver $1.5 billion in benefits to up to a million households.
