Dr. Guttman Provides CLE Presentation on the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act in Dayton
CINCINNATI, Jan. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Harry J. Guttman, Patent Attorney with Stipkala LLC, spoke about recent changes to U.S. patent law to the Dayton Intellectual Property Law Association (DIPLA) at its meeting on December 9, 2011. Invited by DIPLA to provide a CLE credit-approved presentation, Dr. Guttman examined several aspects of the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act, signed into law by President Obama on September 16, 2011. Dr. Guttman began by explaining the principles underlying the act, the change from first-to-invent to first-inventor-to-file, and other provisions that harmonize U.S. patent laws with those of the international patent community.Dr. Guttman also included information on new prior art definitions, the disclosure-based grace period, and the transition provisions for first-inventor-to-file implementation.
