Throughout his career, George worked in the areas of astronomy and astrophysics, and taught his students about nova-like variable stars (also known as explosive stars). In addition, he specialized in Research and Development related to astronomy and astrophysics, and is an honored member of the American Astronomical Society; Royal Astronomical Society; and the American Physical Society.

George earned his Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Virginia, and also holds a Master's Degree in Astronomy from the University of Indiana, as well as a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Astronomy from Harvard University.
