NEW YORK, April 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- /Continental Who's Who/ -- Dr. Daniel Soffer, MD is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Medicine as a result of his role as a Cardiologist with Mount Sinai Medical Center.
In his current role, Dr. Soffer's areas of expertise include percutaneous closure of patent foramen ovale (PFO) in patients with cryptogenic stroke, atrial septal defect (ASD) closure, and percutaneous balloon valvuloplasty of the aortic and mitral valves. In addition, Dr. Soffer specializes in high risk coronary interventions and carotid stenting as well as limb salvage procedures using thrombectomy and all atherectomy devices available in the United States. He also has an abiding interest in reno-vascular disease and refractory hypertension, in particular renal artery stenosis, and performs percutaneous interventions to treat these disorders. Furthermore, Dr. Soffer's interests extend into the field of research and development. In this capacity, he has served as a co-investigator in numerous clinical trials assessing new techniques and devices in the coronary, carotid and peripheral circulation as well as structural heart disease.
Prior to his position with Mount Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Soffer spent 7 years at Lenox Hill Hospital where he worked with his mentor, Dr. Gary Roubin, as a member of the interventional coronary, peripheral and structural heart teams. Dr Soffer trained at the world renowned William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan with Drs. William O'Neill, Cindy Grines and Robert Safian followed by two year tenure in North Carolina where he stamped his expertise in cardiac, carotid and peripheral interventions. He completed his residency and his cardiology fellowship programs at Lenox Hill Hospital and he is currently board certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology and Endovascular Medicine.
As a result of his vast accomplishments in the field of Medicine, Dr. Soffer has been named as a Top Physician in Interventional Cardiology, and is also a Two-Time Recipient of the Swiss Foundation Scholarship. In addition, in 1990 he was selected as an Honorary Student in the Cardiology and Emergency Medicine Department of Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Furthermore, in 1989 he was recognized as a visiting Honorary Student in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Uelleval Hospital in Oslo, Norway.
Dr. Soffer earned his Medical Degree at Ben Gurion University of the Negev and is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine and Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and The Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions.
