OKLAHOMA CITY, Feb. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- BancFirst announced today that Dr. Cindy Ross, president of Cameron University, has been elected to the Company's board of directors.
During her tenure as president, Ross launched the first comprehensive fundraising campaign in Cameron's history. Over $12.5 million were raised for student scholarships, endowed faculty positions and the construction of the McMahon Centennial Complex and the Bentley Gardens. Under Ross's leadership, the University completed over $55 million in campus building construction and welcomed the largest enrollment in CU history.
Ross earned her baccalaureate, master's and doctoral degrees from Oklahoma State University where she held both administrative and academic posts until 1990 when she joined the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE). She worked as Chief Academic Officer and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs during her 12 years at the OSRHE before coming to Cameron.
"We are pleased that Dr. Ross has agreed to join our board. She has deep roots in Oklahoma, manages one of the largest employers in southwest Oklahoma and brings an academic perspective that is unique to our board," said David Rainbolt, BancFirst Chairman.
Ross was recently selected for induction into the Oklahoma Women's Hall of Fame.
