OCONOMOWOC, Wis., June 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- One of the experts at Rogers Memorial Hospital, Chad Wetterneck, Ph.D., will present during two sessions at the upcoming Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS) World Conference in Minneapolis, Minn. on June 19-22. Wetterneck is a full-time psychologist who specializes in utilizing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Contextual behavioral science (CBS) is a system of assumptions, scientific values and methodical commitments which help drive theory and development to expand basic behavior accounts of complex behaviors in order to advance human well-being. On June 20, Wetterneck will serve as symposium chair for "Tools for Clinical and Research Targets in the Areas of Interpersonal Functioning and Intimacy: Concepts and Measures from Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP)." During the presentation, he will address multiple measurement strategies that are important to advancing CBS treatments and will focus on primary research regarding psychological flexibility. Wetterneck will also serve on a panel for "Measuring ACT/FAP Process and Outcome in Clinical Practice Settings" on June 21.
"This symposium will feature a template designed to offer a functional assessment of client problem behaviors, clinical terminology and suggested behavioral interventions. In addition, we will address social connection as it emerges as an important value in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), FAP and other treatments and is relevant for the spectrum of depressive, anxiety and personality disorders," said Wetterneck.
The ACBS brings together clinicians and researchers to present cutting-edge research in ACT, relational frame theory (RFT), and CBS, as well as experienced trainers to lead workshops that help clinicians learn how to serve their clients better. The conference draws renowned psychologists, social workers, professional counselors, health researchers, language researchers and behavior analysts from around the world.
