Dr. Bronner's and Sea Shepherd Celebrate Partnership to Protect Our Oceans
Top-Selling Soap Brand Donates New Ship, MV Emanuel Bronner, to Support Wildlife Protection in the Baltic Sea
VISTA, Calif., June 15, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Dr. Bronner's, the top-selling brand of natural soap and body care products in North America has partnered with Sea Shepherd to launch Sea Shepherd Germany's first vessel, the MV Emanuel Bronner. Dr. Bronner's donated the ship to support the organization's efforts to defend wildlife in the Baltic Sea.
To commemorate this partnership, Dr. Bronner's and Sea Shepherd have each released new limited edition co-branded merchandise for sale on their respective websites. Dr. Bronner's has also published a video, available at: https://youtu.be/0piximd79AU and an interview with Sea Shepherd leadership by company President, Michael Bronner, on the company's All-One! blog to mark this unique collaboration, available at: https://www.drbronner.com/all-one-blog.
"On June 1, I brought my family to Bremen, Germany, where Sea Shepherd Germany's first ship, the MV Emanuel Bronner, named after my grandfather, was unveiled to press and supporters," says Michael Bronner, President of Dr. Bronner's. "The more I've gotten to know the amazing individuals involved in this organization, the more I've understood that the soul and mission of Dr. Bronner's and Sea Shepherd is All-One! Motivated by a mutual concern and compassion for the environment and wildlife, both organizations hold a deep belief in the power and responsibility of individuals to take direct action to right the wrongs of the world."
The goal of Sea Shepherd Germany's Baltic Sea campaign is to finally establish real sanctuaries for endangered harbour porpoises. These small and shy members of the dolphin family are seeing their numbers decrease dramatically because they are frequently caught in fishing nets and die as bycatch. To protect this species, Germany should be following EU regulations and designate the porpoises' habitats as sanctuaries where fishing is completely prohibited. Right now, the use of gillnets is still legal and not monitored at all, which Sea Shepherd asserts, must change.
"Sea Shepherd Conservation Society is celebrating our 40th anniversary this year. We are honored to partner with Dr. Bronner's, a rare company that has a deep understanding of the consequences of human actions on the planet," says David Hance, Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. based Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. "Their support has helped our German partners with the means to set sail this summer to protect the threatened harbour porpoise in the Baltic Sea," Hance continued.
Dr. Bronner's has created a special "Protect Our Oceans" label to promote this partnership and to support Sea Shepherd. A 4oz. soap bottle with this special label is free with purchase of a co-branded Dr. Bronner's and Sea Shepherd toiletry bag available on both organizations' websites. (MSRP: $25.00.)
