Dr. Bhartia Honored As NATEL EMS Fellow

CHATSWORTH, Calif., June 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- NATEL EMS's Board of Directors has bestowed the honor of NATEL EMS Fellow on Prakash Bhartia, PhD. Dr. Bhartia joined NATEL EMS in 2003 and most recently served as Executive Vice President.

The NATEL EMS Fellowship Program was established to honor exceptional leaders who set technical direction for the electronics manufacturing company and use their knowledge, wisdom and experience to provide guidance on crucial issues.

This latest honor is one of many for Dr. Bhartia. Appointed to the Order of Canada in 2002, he is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and member of the Engineering Institute of Canada, The Canadian Academy of Engineers and the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers. He was awarded the IEEE McNaughton Gold Medal for outstanding engineering contributions.

Dr. Bhartia graduated with a B.Tech (Hons) from IIT Bombay and earned his MSc and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Manitoba, Canada. He served as an associate professor and assistant dean of engineering at the University of Regina, Saskatchewan.

Over a 25-year career in the Canadian Department of Defense, Dr. Bhartia held four director level positions, and, over the past ten years, served as Director General of the Defense R&D Laboratories in Halifax and Ottawa. He has published extensively, with more than 200 publications, nine books and five patents to his credit. He has served on many boards and senior level committees both in Canada and internationally.
