Dr. Bernard McSherry named Acting Dean Of NJCU School Of Business
JERSEY CITY, N.J., July 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Bernard McSherry, a 33-year Wall Street veteran and long-time member of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) who has served as an assistant professor of finance at New Jersey City University since 2011, has been appointed dean of the University's School of Business.

Dr. McSherry, who looks forward to working "to build an institution that excels at producing the next generation of American business leaders," founded McSherry & Company in 1988, eventually growing it into one of the largest independent brokerage firms on the NYSE. In 2000, the firm was acquired by SunGard Global Execution Services and he served as CEO of its New York and London-based Broker/Dealers for two years following the acquisition. In 2002, Dr. McSherry joined Prudential Equity Group as Managing Director-Head of Sales Trading and NYSE Operations and in 2007, became Senior Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at Cuttone & Company.
Dr. McSherry has served in a number of leadership positions within the industry and has chaired several New York Stock Exchange committees, including the Equity Traders Advisory Committee. He was a member of the Market Performance Committee and served as a New York Stock Exchange Governor for six terms. He has served on the Board of Directors of the National Organization of Investment Professionals, is a past president of the Alliance of Floor Brokers, and is a member of the Security Traders Association of New York.
Dr. McSherry has regularly appeared as a market commentator on CNBC, FOXBusiness, Bloomberg, and CBS and has offered periodic commentary on ABC, MSNBC, CNN, BBC, NPR, Reuters, and AP. His market views have been frequently quoted by the Wall Street Journal, Reuters, and Bloomberg and his work has been published in Barrons and Financial Times and by Forbes.com.
He holds a doctoral degree from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University and an M.B.A. from Stern School of Business at New York University and is a graduate of Wagner College. His research interests include financial history, behavioral finance, and market microstructure.
NJCU's School of Business is comprised of four independent Departments: Accounting, Finance, Management, and Marketing. The School offers undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs on its main campus at 2039 Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City and at two off-campus sites: NJCU at Harborside on the Jersey City waterfront and NJCU at Brookdale in Wall Township.
