Dr. Anish Goyal Joins Block Engineering as VP of Technology
MARLBOROUGH, Mass., Jan. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Block Engineering, the leading manufacturer of Quantum Cascade Laser (QCL) and miniaturized FTIR based infrared spectroscopy solutions, announced today that Dr. Anish Goyal has joined the company as the new Vice President of Technology. Dr. Goyal will lead all aspects of technology development, assessment and demonstration of new commercial and government applications, and establishment of corporate technology strategies.

Dr. Goyal joins Block from MIT Lincoln Laboratory where he was a member of the Technical Staff in the Laser Technology and Applications Group. During his tenure at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, he led many programs related to Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCLs), Hyperspectral Imaging, Standoff Chemical Detection, and the development of unique mid-infrared high-power lasers. As a recognized leader in these fields, he has worked with some of the best in the world in QCLs and has been invited to write a chapter on Hyperspectral Imaging in a soon to be published book on Standoff Detection of Explosives.
Prior to MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Dr. Goyal has worked at Polaroid Corporation where he developed novel laser sources, AT&T Bell Labs, and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Dr. Goyal holds a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara, specializing in Solid-State Device Technology, and a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He has served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics and has more than 30 publications and four patents.
