Downtown Fort Worth's 10-year Strategic Action Plan Approved

Fort Worth City Council, Downtown Fort Worth, Inc. Board of Directors and The Transportation Authority (The T) Board of Directors approve the vision for Downtown Fort Worth for the next 10 years

FORT WORTH, Texas, Dec. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Fort Worth City Council has just adopted Plan 2023, a 10-year strategic action plan for Downtown Fort Worth. The 65-page document, released by Downtown Fort Worth, Inc., in partnership with The City of Fort Worth and The Transportation Authority (The T), outlines the vision for Downtown's future. Every 10 years, DFWI and partners, with the help of a half dozen committees, come together and initiate a planning process that results in a detailed plan that reflects the community's vision for a livable, healthy, economically vibrant and exciting Downtown for the next decade.

The 2023 planning process was initiated in June 2012 with input and ideas received through public meetings, committee meetings and concepts shared on a specially created website for the plan. The updated Strategic Action Plan was built on Downtown's existing natural, cultural, and social assets and serves as a guidepost for Downtown's future development efforts.

Allan Howeth, Chair of Plan 2023, stated that "As Chair, I experienced the vital inflow of ideas from Fort Worth area residents who have intense and creative interests in our Downtown.  This level of interest bodes well for the next ten years of Downtown Fort Worth's progress."

Presented in Plan 2023 are key objectives and strategies for advancing each of the following development fundamentals: Transportation; Urban Design, Open Space & Public Art; Business Development; Housing; Retail, Arts & Entertainment; and Education.
