BOSTON, Jan. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Clear Ballot announced today that Douglas County, Colorado selected Clear Ballot's ClearVote election technology as its new voting system. Clear Ballot and Douglas County will complete ClearVote training and implementation by the June 26 Primary Election. Douglas County has more than 243,000 registered voters as of January 2, 2018. Clear Ballot's ClearVote system was certified in Colorado on December 22, 2017.
The ClearVote voting system is a new class of reliable tools that enables election officials to take control of their entire election process to conduct efficient elections with speed, transparency and confidence.
Clear Ballot will provide Douglas County with a ballot design and layout tool that's streamlined and intuitive. The ClearVote system gives election administrators enhanced confidence through a vote visualization tool that also includes auditability of close races. The ClearVote polling place solution includes a ballot marking device that ensures usability and accessibility for all voters; rather than traditional electronic storage, ballots are printed on commercially available printers and included in the traditional ballot tabulation process, thereby increasing voter trust.
"Clear Ballot's ClearVote system is foundational to Douglas County Elections' integrity and security, thus inspiring public trust in the elections outcome," said Merlin Klotz, Douglas County Clerk and Recorder. "For example, the software's ballot mark visualization system delivers enhanced confidence overall and especially should there be a need for an audit of a close race," continued Klotz.
Clear Ballot CEO, Larry Moore stated, "We're excited to bring Clear Ballot's proven vote-by-mail efficiencies to Colorado. Clear Ballot customers have reported significant improvements in speed, performance, and efficiency in vote-by-mail solutions in both Oregon and Washington. We look forward to building a lasting partnership with Douglas County focused on making elections more transparent while saving taxpayer dollars."
Clear Ballot has a long history in Colorado. ClearVote was piloted by Adams and Gilpin Counties in the November 2015 General Election, and several Clear Ballot staff members have long resided in and supported elections in Colorado.
