doTERRA Wellness Advocate Empowers Girls through Tai-chi
Pre-teen years can be filled with anxiety, vulnerability, and self-doubt, but Tracy Eisenman is teaching girls to fight these feelings and become empowered.
PLEASANT GROVE, Utah, March 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- doTERRA Wellness Advocate Tracy Eisenman works with the Sister to Sister Summit program to help girls feel strong and confident. When Tracy was a youth, she realized that she felt small and vulnerable, so she began taking martial arts to help her overcome feelings of inadequacy. Today, she is helping other girls fight against inadequate feelings by volunteer teaching Tai-chi at the Sister to Sister Summit camp.
The Sister to Sister Summit camp is a weekend long event for sixth and seventh grade girls who are seeking to form new friendships and increase their self-confidence. Many pre-teen and teen girls across the world experience the negative emotional side effects associated with the so-called "teenage years." This time in a girl's life can be stressful and can sometimes cause feelings of depression, anxiety, vulnerability, and frustration. Some feelings of anxiety and depression, and other emotional side effects, can result from bullying, body-image, and domestic abuse; all of which many girls face today. In an effort to combat some of these negative feelings and emotions, the Sister to Sister Summit camp gives teen girls a place where they can come and gain confidence in who they are and push away the anxiety, depression, or unnecessary feelings that can accompany the teen years.
The camp also provides an opportunity for girls to come together and encourage each other, build relationships, learn from their mentors, participate in enjoyable team building activities, and experience fun classes like Tracy's Tai-chi. For Tracy, one of her favorite parts of the program is when she gets to see one or more of the participants after their camp experience and recognize the increased confidence that they now have. Another aspect of the program that Tracy loves is that the camp facilitators are comprised of high school aged girls who have been through the Sister to Sister Summit camp themselves. These new mentors help to show how effective the program is in helping girls realize their potential and see the ways that they can each influence their community for good.
