PLEASANT GROVE, Utah, Sept. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- doTERRA, the world's leading global essential oils company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Missy W. Larsen as its senior director of government relations and corporate partnerships. Larsen joins doTERRA directly after serving as chief of staff to Utah Attorney General Sean D. Reyes and the Utah attorney general's office. She is the founder of public relations agency INTREPID and co-founder of the Utah Refugee Connection. Larsen has also served in many business, non-profit and government roles.
"For nearly a decade, doTERRA has focused on the wellness of individuals, families and communities. Because we are so committed to a core mission of personal and collective growth, we are thrilled to welcome Missy to our team," said David Stirling, founding executive, chairman and CEO at doTERRA. "She is one of Utah's well-respected and recognized civic leaders who has built a career and reputation on community-building initiatives."
Larsen served as press secretary, spokesperson and business liaison for the late U.S. Congressman Bill Orton (UT, 3). In 1994, she launched INTREPID, an award-winning, full-service public relations firm based in Salt Lake City, and managed a growing staff and demanding clientele for more than a decade. Larsen also started MWL Communications in 2004 to represent some of Utah's most valued businesses and organizations. Then in 2009, after mentoring a Somali-Bantu refugee family, she co-founded the Utah Refugee Coalition (now Utah Refugee Connection) as an organization to connect government agencies, non-profit organizations and businesses with a core mission of helping refugees integrate into Utah communities and build self-sufficiency.
"Missy is an incredible leader who has spearheaded significant improvements both in Utah and throughout the country," said Kirk Jowers, vice president of corporate relations and European markets at doTERRA. "Her passion for service and forming meaningful partnerships is virtually unparalleled. We're thrilled to have her join the doTERRA team."
Larsen currently serves as chair of the statewide SafeUT Crisis and Tip Line Commission and the Utah Refugee Connection Board and vice president of government relations for the Boy Scouts of America Greater Salt Lake Council.
