Dot Hill Introduces Heterogeneous Virtualization Solution for OEMs
Intelligent Storage Networking Software Enables OEM Solutions with Simple, Efficient, and Scalable Management of Heterogeneous Storage Systems
LONGMONT, Colo., Aug. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dot Hill Systems Corp. (Nasdaq: HILL), a provider of world-class storage solutions and software for OEMs, open storage partners and system integrators, today announced its Intelligent Storage Networking (iSN™) Version 2.3 storage virtualization software for OEMs and integrators.
The latest version of the company's heterogeneous storage management software, iSN 2.3, consolidates and virtualizes storage across different vendors and, via advanced storage features such as snapshots, thin provisioning, storage tiering, migration and replication, enables unified storage solutions for both NAS and SAN configurations which can simplify the IT environment.
The iSN 2.3 manages diverse storage systems as a single unified pool of storage, helping IT managers avoid vendor 'lock-in', reduce costs, increase storage management capabilities and reduce management complexity. By virtualizing physical resources and managing storage based on logical volumes, storage administrators can use iSN to eliminate "islands" of storage and utilize resources more efficiently.
The solution empowers OEMs to address multiple storage challenges such as cross-platform functionality, cost containment, business simplification, system availability and disaster recovery, while providing flexibility and scalability to support and effectively manage future data growth. Dot Hill iSN technology provides a foundation for a new class of midrange and enterprise storage systems -- for example, private or public cloud storage solutions to complement virtual server investments.
"Dot Hill's iSN solutions allow OEM partners to effectively address new and emerging requirements for storage management to improve efficiencies, manage growth and control costs. With the release of iSN version 2.3, we have fine-tuned this proven platform with configurations specifically engineered to better suit our storage OEMs and integrators," said Garrett Wein, vice president worldwide OEM sales at Dot Hill.
"Prior to our acquisition of Cloverleaf and the iSN technology in January, iSN served as a robust storage virtualization solution for the enterprise. We are pleased to build on that heritage to bring these important capabilities to our OEM customers and prospects," said Dana Kammersgard, president and chief executive officer of Dot Hill.
Configuration Flexibility with Full Support
Based on a powerful, flexible virtualization engine, Dot Hill iSN solutions offer a rich set of features such as thin provisioning, snapshots, replication, migration and storage tiering. The iSN can provision both Fibre Channel, NAS and iSCSI protocols and present file and block services simultaneously while scaling up to 6 petabytes (6PB) of storage capacity with the inclusion of additional iSN controllers.
The iSN software solution can be loaded onto standard x86 hardware servers and is readily integrated into existing environments. And in keeping with Dot Hill's strong OEM support legacy, the iSN offering is highly configurable to meet an OEM's diverse requirements, enabling partners to create and market their own unique branded solutions.
Dot Hill's expert iSN support team are available to work closely with OEM and integration partners from start to finish, to ensure proper product mix, branding, training, installation and support.
Evaluation software is now available. For more information on iSN 2.3 visit http://www.dothill.com/products/intelligent-storage-networks/.
